Why I turned a Pomodoro timer into a Moon base
I'm dyslexic and ADHD. Normal timers just beep. So I made one with a story.
I made TinyPomo. It's a Pomodoro game for iPhone.
The problem with a beep
I like the Pomodoro method. Short blocks of focus work for me.
But most timers just beep at the end. Then nothing. There's no reason to finish the session, and no reason to come back tomorrow.
I wanted my focus to turn into something I could see.
Focus that builds something
So in TinyPomo, the timer feeds a Moon base.
- Pick a 5, 25 or 45 minute session.
- Finish it and you earn credits.
- Spend the credits to build your base.
Session by session, the base grows.
A story to come back for
A base is good. A mystery is better.
A sci-fi story unlocks as you focus. It starts on the Moon, then moves to Mars. Each session tells you a little more.
That's the part that pulls me back. I want to know what happens next.
Built to stay out of the way
- A Live Activity shows the countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. You don't need to open the app.
- You can share a postcard of your colony.
- No account. No analytics.
What it costs
- The Moon campaign is free.
- Mars is $4.99, one time.
- Command Suite is $4.99, one time.
- No subscription.
Try it
If a beep isn't enough to keep you going, give your focus something to build.
